Yo Yo Yo
Well, I can say that I have been to the Amazon jungle and got lost in the Amazon jungle.
I cannot remeber where I last left this thing, probably on my return from Machu Picchu, since then we had a free day in Cusco, which consisted of us sitting around and not doing much (devastated at the break up of our group R.I.P F.U.M.P) we went out at night to a club, but alas... it sucked.
So the next day we met the other memebers of our group that we would spend the next 3 days with. One bald little Indian manboy from Canada, who just so happens to be the best thing ever! And two girls who were miserable and ugly as sin. But anyways....
We headed from Cusco to the airport where we got a flight to Puerto Maldonal, as we stepped of the plane we got hit with 25c and 90% humidity... awesome! We met our guide and headed to the port, where we got a long boat journey to our lodge. Now, this might not seem much but, we actually got in a boat and traveled three hours into the Amazon jungle! On route to the lodge we saw the usual.. howler monkeys, condors, tamarins, macaws and other boring run of the mill jungle animals! When we got to our lodge, which by the way was sooo sweet. We unpacked and went for a night jungle walk, we walked through the middle of the jungle for an hour or two and saw some wildflife, not as much as I would have liked, but a few snakes, insects and birds and also an amazonian bamboo rat. Then we headed back to bed and slept in our bed covered with mosquito net!
When you watch programs about people who spend the night in the jungle as say its loud, and you think they are over exagerating - they aren`t. It is crazy loud in the jungle, with all the crickets chriping, monkeys howling, birds squawking and mosquitos buzzing around it turns out to be very very noisy!
The next day we woke up at 4am and we had our breakfast and went to a lake to try and spot some animals, it turns out we did! We saw loads of birds and parrots. Whilst we were eating our lunch on the lake I threw some of my crumbs out into the lake and loads of cichlids started muching on them, few angel fish and tetras were there. Then I saw some piranha! Just a few yellow flashes, definatly P. piraya. We weren`t aloud to piranha fish as someone found a giant otter dead the other day and came the conclusion that someone has been piranha fishing and a hook had stayed in the piranha`s mouth and then the dumb otter had eaten the piranha and died. Dumbass.
Ahwell, after the lake visit we had some free time, so we went for a walk in the jungle, where we saw the most poisonous snake in the jungle, one of the guides killed it for us, but it was pretty savage! So we went for this mega long walk following a trail which lead us deeper and deeper into the jungle. Seeing lots of animals and insects on the way. When we came to a fork in the jungle, we turned left when we should have continued on and got ourself lost. It was ok we retraced our footsteps and got outta there alive, luckily.
Later that night, we went Caiman spotting after sundown, we headed out in our boat and flashed a massive light at the river banks, hoping to see some caimen, we didnt but we did see alot of other critters.
I have gotta go my flight is being called.
Will fill yàll in later
