Hola!
I am sat in a hostel in Lima, the sun is pounding through the window, I can hear hundreds taxi's racing by beeping. Lima is different to Quito, it seems more layed back and the area we are staying in is pretty rich, I mean $12 a night! That's crazy money!
We are just chilling at the moment, we walked around the miraflores in Lima today and went to see the Pacific, we then got lost and walked around for a long time. Suprisngly we got alot of help from the locals, and it gave me a chance to bust out my vast Spanish rerpertoire out. It was poor and we got lost. Needles to say we got back to the hostel and we are chilling out and then heading for a hotel in Lima tomorrow where we meet our group for our trek. I think we leave for Machu Picchu on Tuesday, before that we are visiting, Lima, Cusco and Ollyatmbo.
Like I said the sun is pouding through the window and it is so hot here, which is a welcome change from Quito's cold and rainy weather. On our last day in Quito, we visited Mitad Del Mundo and saw the middle of the earth, then we saw the 'real' middle of the earth, which is actually calculated with a GPS, we got to balance an egg on a nail head, it is possible as there is no correolis affect. Interesting stuff. We also looked at the water running anti clockwise and clockwise in the different hemisphere (it runs anti-clockwisein the north). After our science lesson we headed back to the hostel and then went to a Turkish bath. I don't know why Garry wanted to go there, but it was OK, it had a swimming pool and sauna and hot tub. We got back from there in time for dinner, it was french night, which meant onion soup and coq au van. I retired to bed as I still have a killer cold and Garry followed a few hours later. We were up at 4.30am to get our plane to Lima. That was Hard!
Well Ciao for now
