Claire & Steve's Excellent Adventure
We finally made it Goa after a long train journey, stopping in Mumbai (Bombay) which was another crazy Indian city although a little bit more organised than Delhi!
Goa is wonderful and a complete change from the north of the country - it is so good to relax and sit on the beach after all the running around and travelling over the last fortnight. We are staying in a guesthouse on the beach in Benaulim - it is lovely....blue seas, white sand and amazing sunsets. We rented bicyles to ride along the beach which was great - watched the fishermen out in their boats and found some deserted stretches of sand on which to relax. We have bought the obligatory sarongs off the beach traders and enjoying loads of fresh fruit everyday.
Really enjoying the food down here too, have managed to avoid the curries and have feasted on fresh fish, banana pancakes, cornflakes and chips! I can feel the weight piling back on already!
We got up early one morning to go "dolphin watching" - what we saw was one dolphin who had obviously seen better days!!!
We hired a scooter today to drive down south to Palolem - very scenic and once I had got over the initial fear of being on the back I managed to loosen my grip on Steve and enjoy it! Palolem was stunning - its in a small cove lined with palm trees and wooden huts. It is obviously the place to go for travellers and had a very hippy vibe about it. We stay in Goa for another 2 days before heading further south to Kerala.
