Hello so the delayed blog from when we stayed in Queenstown and Wanaka....
So we arrived in Queenstown after an 8 hr coach trip from Christchurch, which wasn't as bad as it sounds as the scenery was stunning all the way there. Driving South through snow topped mountains and countryside we stopped at a beautiful lake - Lake Tekapo for lunch. It looks even better than it does on the postcards! A blue lake surrounded by snow-topped mountains with the Church of the Good Shepherd beside it.
When we got to Queenstown it was dark but by morning when we woke up the view out of the hostel as we ate breakfast was amazing looking over a beautiful lake surrounded by, yes more mountains so we actually decided to climb one of them the Queenstown hill about 500m high and a lovely scenic view but extremely windy & cold at the top!
The next day we took the Gondola up to the Luge track at ones of the mountains, then getting a very unsafe cable car up to the top of the track we rode the 3-wheeled karts. Once down the scenic track then we had 2 races. We won one each but my win was defintely much better as the overtaking was much more skilled and the first time there was a an annoying girl in the way.
The next day we took a coach tour to Milford Sound, this was a 5hr trips but will many photo & sight stop along the way. We saw a bird sanctuary, Te Anau, The Mirrow Lakes, the chasm as well as the Homer Tunnels through the mountains. When we arrived at Milford Sound we took a 2hrs boat cruises through the sound seeing waterfalls, Mountains and wildlife before taking the scenic journey back to Queenstown.
After having a nice relaxing day in Queenstown, going around the shops and walking by the river we went skiing at Mt Cadrona where we had 2 lessons and a some time on the slopes as it was both out 1st time skiing it was a interesting experience & our instructor was a bit scary but we had fun & it wasnt to cold. I didnt fall over once, unfortuntely the same can't be said about Anthony as he made up for both of us in the falls department!!
The final day we were in Queenstown we did the Canyon Swing which wasscary but awesome fun. The pictures are on facebook. Anthony went 1st & did the most scariest jump when the pin drop. He actually had to jump of the ledge into the high canon himself with his hand behind his back. I did the chair swing in which they keep tipping you back & pulling you back so you think your gonna swing & u don't. Then when you don't expect it they don't pull you back & the chair flipped over many times over the canyon! Later we treated outselves to some awesome dessert in Lone Star - Banoffee Pie & Jack Daniels Chocolate Fudge Cake.
We Set of to Wanaka a few hours away the next day & ill do this part when I have more internet time....
