Right then, here we go again!! Got an hour to kill this morning so figured I would try to complete me blogging and hope the compuer doesn't crash constantly like yesterday!! I have not been able to put any pics up yet due to the computers being s*** here in Loas!!
Had an early start this morning, was up at 4:40am to give the monks from the temples there food, was quite cool but am shattered now and got a long day ahead!! Off to the museum's today and then the waterfalls this afternoon. Then got a night off, so no doubt we'll end up on the lash somewhere!!
When I left this last I was in Changkong on the Mekong River. Well we set off for Laos that following morning making the short journey across the river to Laos and got our visa's all stamped. Not the tightest security I have ever seen!! But we met out guide Louis who then took us to out home for 2 days alovely little family boat that we had all to ourselves. I should have took more pics of the insuide of the boat so you got a better idea of what it was like, but didn't, so you can't!!
It had a massive king size bed at the front were you could retract the roof for sunbathing and plenty of seating for chilling on and a massive dinner table for us all to eat at.
I monged on the bed as much I could without hogging it!! But we cruised down the Mekong river and the countryside is stunning here it really is. We stopped off at a local village to see what village life is like and found all the kids playing on the side of the river doing back flips and having fun. We wandered through the village and was quite surprised to find most of the house's have sattelite TV, so not that rural!! Plus, alot of the kids had tattoo's, which is part of their religious upbringing, not one of them had a Taz tattoo though!! But the heat was ridiculous and was glad to get back to the boat and continue our journey.
We stopped off for the night in Patbeng (think that's how you spell it) which is a tiny village with one road that leads to China and had one bar in it. We had a wander round the village, which didn't take long!! And then stopped off at the one bar for some drink's, all I'll say is Loas Black Whiskey can't be good for you, it burnt all the way down!! We all had a meal in one of the local resteraunt's and I finally managed to have something other than rice when I got my hands on some mash potatoe, f***ing deadly!! Was surprised to find so many fellow traveller's and we had one hell of a party!! We took over the resteraunt and got pretty hammered!! The Loas whiskey got the better of Matt and he nearly fell out the window!! We had to break into the hotel by bunking each other over the fence and then had a bit of a party back at the hotel and did our best to avoid the apparent mutant bug invasion!! Great night though as the pics will show.
Then it was back on the boat the next day and continue our journey. I jumped on the bed again to try and get a bit more sleep which I have being getting a distinct lack of lately. We then stopped off at the cave temples on the way to see the 3000 budha statue's scattered all round the temple. Once again there were alot of step's and it is hot here!!
We got into Lum Prabang last night and stayed in a lovely little guesthouse which has hot water and AC!! Felt almost luxurious and we all decided to make a bit of an effort for our home stay meal. We arrived and everyone here eats by sitting round on the floor, the locakl elders blessed the meal and us by tying some string round our wrist's. Sorry to say it people but I have the string wrapped round me wrist, proper traveller now!! The food was lovely and was things like deep fried egg plant, chicken green curry, pork sausage, fried chicked and some very spicy chicken, all served with rice of course!! Was nice meal, but I seem to fill up quick at the moment and couldn't eat much.
We then went for a wander round the night market so the girls could have a mooch and buy some things. Hvaebn't bought anything myself yet, but might get a t-shirt and the girls are trying to convince me to get some hippy pants!!
Well I apologise for any spelling mistakes and hope your enjoying the blog's!! Try and get pics up soon and hopefully get a new phone as well!!
