5 Month Summary
My summary begins with a look at my top 3 favorite spots in which we've travelled in Asia.
1) Southern China. Particularly hiking in the scenic Tiger Leaping Gorge
2) Myanmar (Burma). Trekking, a local wedding, and talking politics will never be forgotten
3) Beaches! The Perhentian Islands in Malaysia, and 1000 Islands in Laos. Couldn't single out either one.
How time flies. Having 15 days to sit back on white sand beaches and stare at turqoise water, I've been able to run through our journey so far. We've visited 10 countries! Surfed the Indonesian shores, hiked the mountains in China, lost some money in Macau, met with rebel leaders in Myanmar, slept under the stars with fireflies in Cambodia, rode elephants in Thailand, and swam with sharks in Malaysia. I've just been remembering all this with a huge grin on my face.
With all that adventure, and such a variety of different countries, Monique and I have realized our travel "style". While we love to stay in $5 dorms and small huts, we also enjoy a nice big white duvet with A/C once in a while. Other travellers we meet are a bit thrown off to meet us on a remote beach in Malaysia and hear that we've been to Las Vegas 5 times! You see, most people we meet are hard core budget travellers. To hear that some travellers will stay completely local for months, then fly to Singapore and go to Universal Studios kinda baffles poeple. Well, what can we say. That's our "style". Our 2 weeks in Thailand with my parnets in a 4 star resort was much needed!
Most people half way done their travels get dissapointed and are dreading the "end". Not us. I've loved absolutely every moment of Asia. Every place we've left, we've done so with no regrets. No country left un-explored, no beer brand left un-sipped, and no local food left un-tasted.
After our 15 day beach time, I'm ready to head to L.A. Our friends and family will be meeting us in Mexico for Brent and Kelseys wedding. Also, Central America awaits!!
While I miss everyone at home very much, I'm so excited for this 2nd half of our trip.
Thanks to everyone for following along so far. The pictures will only get better!!!
