We sadly left sunny Tanzania for the hot land of Malawi. The drive was a lengthy one but we made it. WE stayed at 2 different campsites on the lake. We both said that we would not swim in the lake as it is renknowned for having Bilharzia - a paralyzing dodgy parasite. But when we arrived we were all so hot and the lake was so beautiful!!! However the side we stayed on was moving water and not stagnant so we should be okay... A trip to the doc when we get to SA for tests to be safe!!! Anyhow the days spent there were all fabulous! We climbed upto Livingstonia one morning. a 3 hour hike up a mountain - very steep at times too.. (Lorna thought she was going to die!!!! Man so unfit!!!) Made it in the end and the view is supposed to be the best in Africa according to Mr Livingstone himself.... On the 13th was Lorna's 24th Birthday. As was another girls - Jade. Another fellow scorpion!!! WHooohoooo. Casey our tour leader arranged a "BAD TASTE" party for th night. We all bought some dodgy clothing from a 4th hand clothing market.. the styles horendous!!! It was a great night and a birthday cake too... Steve manged to arrange a very romantic sunset snorkel to the tiny island " Morning Star" just the two of us... very cool and part of it we hung out with the local fishermen. On our last night we had dinner at the local village. Sat under the stars and joined in the dancing with the young kids and singing and drumming. Quiet a moving experience. On to Zambia...
