After relaxing at our campsite for the day we drove out to the Rob Roy track to do the walk up to the Glacier of the same name. The drive was a bit of a mission in itself as we drove about 20k along a dirt track which involved crossing 10 fords, a couple of which we were unsure Muriel was going to get out of. We made it though and set off on what was labelled as a gentle walk. Now it was nothing compared to some of the climbs we have done but there had been several landslides and it was a pretty steep climb in places which would have prevented a lot of people making it up there. It was well worth the effort though, the glacier sits high up in the valley hanging above the cliffs and waterfalls, which themselves are pretty spectacular. It was a beautiful day and an idyllic spot for lunch, surrounded by the local kea birds, before we headed down and drove back towards Wanaka. Driving through the farmland we passed a number of the most enormous bulls, stopping to get a photo of a couple Muriel shifted away very quickly when one of them started digging up the field with its head.
