Had free breakfast again in hotel then went to look at Malbork castle. It was the headquarters of the Teutonic Knights, a German religious order from 13th to 15th century. It survived until WW11 when it was badly damaged but has been rebuilt since. It certainly is the biggest castle we have seen so far as it took about 2 hours to walk around it. Packed up and headed off for Warsaw. The drive was a lot better although a lot of roadworks going on. Had a stretch of completed freeway for a while but knew it was too good to last. We noticed quite a few prozzies standing on the side of the road at little turn offs. They were well prepared with blankets and all but I guess the bush would be a bit prickly on their bums so they need to be prepared. Arrived in Warsaw and city driving is a bit of a chore as everywhere we go there seems to be roadworks. Eventually found our apartment and it is very central and appears to be brand new although typical polish workmanship. Best thing is we have underground parking so don't have to worry about the car. Headed off into town to the tourist info to get maps etc. realized we were not as close as it looked on the map but soldiered on in the humidity. Wandered around a bit and had drinks then found a restaurant for dinner. Headed home and was a much longer trek than anticipated as we had obviously wandered further than we thought. Humidity still stifling so straight in the cold shower when we got home. At least we have a fan in this place so can get a bit of air moving.
