The Halls eventually arrived and we managed a few drinks last night as mentioned yesterday, after me drinking all afternoon I couldn't hang in for a final beer so Kaz and I headed off to bed while Steve and Sylv managed to sneak a final ale in. It was great to catch up with them and we managed to share stories and experiences. We spent a couple of hours this morning in a local cafe over breakfast having a good natter. We both had secure parking at the same place so we had the group and individual photos just to cap the morning off. They headed off to Budapest while we headed off to another (wait for it) castle. Set the GPS and didn't quite get the name of the castle correct so ended on the top of a hill at a dead end OOPs. Reset GPS and got it right this time we arrived at Devin Castle, out of the car and up the hill. It is about 35 degrees here today so we had worked up a fair amount of sweat, Kaz the human water fountain was dripping. The castle was not the best we have seen but had a good view of the Danube and the joining Morava river. Napoleons army blew the castle battlements up in the 18th century and it was not until the ownership was transferred to the Slovak state of which it is now a state monument. It did have a 55m deep well that was hand dug and stone lined.
Had to get in the car after a drink (non-alcoholic) as the A/C was a respite from the heat and headed off to Vienna. No issues on the trip (the usual bit of nerves when you get to the trams) and arrived at the apartment, about 33 degrees here so had to have a shower and get out of the stinky clothes. They have a laundry so all the stinky clothes get a session in the machines. Had a stroll up to the main street, to the Bankomat (cash not lasting as long now) and then to Billa (supermarket) as we will be eating in tonight. Kaz forgot (I didn't know you had to do it so I am blaming her) to weigh the tomatoes and get the price so held up the checkout which wasn't too bad as I was talking to the next guy in the queue and he kindly let us use his discount card with our groceries. Oh, I also got a few take away beverages. Lazed around for the rest of the evening sorting out what we will do tomorrow and I am just waiting now for the beverages to get cold and Kaz to get the spag bog going.
Adding my bit now and still sweating, oh how I long for aircon in this humidity. I guess in 10 days time we'll be complaining about the cold in London.
