Steph and Stevens travels!
Long time no speak people!
Sunday night we went to a reptile show with Rex. He had lots of lizards and snakes etc. He let you hold one snake called olive and it stayed on steph for ages and wouldn't move lol!
Monday we met some more people that joined our tour for a few days. Then we started to travel to Ayres Rock. First stop was the olga's though. We did a really good walk that went through and up the olga's into a valley which was awesome! After this is was time to watch the sunset at Ayres Rock, we got wine and nibbles which were good! The sunset was ok, but it was quite cloudy so it wasn't as good as it normally is :(
Up at 4.30am tomake sure we caught the sunrise at Ayres Rock. It was cool as the rock changed colour every 7 minutes! We then went to Ayres Rock and we could either of climbed it or walk around the base of it (9.4km) We decided to walk around it as the Aboroginal people dont like people climbing it and it looked horrible lol! The walk took us about 2 hours and it was really nice, not too many flies annoying us today :) Another visit to a cultural centre was next on the day's itinery! It was ok, but we was knackered after the walk so took a seat in the cafe with a few others lol. After lunch we drove to Kings Creek Station, this is where we camped for two nights! We just sat around the camp fire that night after tea.
Up early again so we could get to Kings Canyon to do a walk right around it which took around 3 hours. I didn't do the long walk as i was really tired so i did the easy walk which took about an hour lol! Steph really enjoyed the long walk and the views were fantastic. In the afternoon we had a free afternoon which we decided to sit around the pool drinking punch with most of the group. It was really nice because it was boiling hot and the pool was really cold so it was nice to dip in every now and again! That night are tea was cooked on the fire and it was ok i suppose, not the best meal we have had! Around the campfire at night we played games of murder and it was cool. Also our tent that Wes (tour leader) put up collapse on our heads at about 5 in the morning which was a pleasant surprise when we woke up!
Yesterday we made our way back up to Alice Springs. On the way back up we stopped at Jims place to see the famous singing dingo called Dinky. We also stopped off at Anzac hill for a group photo. Then we went to The Royal Flying Doctors, where we watched a video all about them! Back to the hotel to get ready before we went out for tea at bojangles.
Said goodbye to some people leaving the trip today. We go to the airport at about 1 for our 2.25pm flight to Cairns. Hopefully it isn't too bad after the cyclone but we will have to wait and see.
No pics yet as this place doesn't let you use the USB, sorry!
Love Steven and Stephanie x x
