Well after a mental few days feeling like escaping the busy city life of New York by car was a complete impossibility we opted for another trip on the peasant wagons...no offence for you Greyhound riders lol! Sat in front of a couple of guys who were talking about some weird stuff and getting really pissy about the bus taking its time to get to Boston....so with my overactive imaginating I started wondering if these were the escpaed convicts and ex prison guys that Thomas warned us about in Washington lol! Alive and well 4 hours later we arrived in Boston! Crazy how things change so much even 5 hours up the road...quiet, pretty and the people were actually friendly there...wahay! So managed to get to our hostel which we were dreading after reading the terrible reviews...but what a nice surprise! The lady there was British and treated us like celebs...made up, even got put in a room on our own with an ensuite and I didnt mind sleeping on the bed without a sleeping bag so doesnt get much better! Some real randomers floating around there...and whats this deal with wearing flip flops and white socks....I mean is that fashionable in Boston lol! Jonny decides to make a new friend....great...but this guy is the MOST ANNOYING guy he could have picked up great...so when he starts annoying Jonny...what does he do? Oh yes lumbers me with him! I'm there trying to book a car for us and he just doesnt stop talking...well I met my match! Also met a guy from Wales who was really cool and is doing the same route as us at roughly the same time so we will hopefully catch up with him again in Oz maybe...Hiya Nathan if you're reading this! Spent most of our time in Boston on the internet...aGAIN lol trying to sort a car out for Niagara falls...which we eventually did! Spent two nights there...the first day we just chilled in the hostel...the second day we had a gander around the city. Some nice places to visit....really old with lots of Irish bars and the original Cheers bar! We only made it to the replica but it was still pretty cool! Then we attempted to follow the freedom trail....which is great....when you havent got a map reader that doesnt know his north from south! So kinda gave up on that one and wondered around the harbour, listened to some really bad singers in the underground (x factor rejects as we call them) then headed back to the Hostel....where remedial number 2 loomed! Me Jonny and Nathan were sat quite happily having a laugh and a chat when this guy decides to come and waste ten minutes of our lives...gives us this sob story about how the bank has swallowed his card and he has no money to do anything...none of us took a bite to it and let it go....but then he starts going on about food and how hungry he is while the three of us were sat scoffing our faces.....AWKWARD! He then starts telling us about how he comes from New York and that he loves british music....thought he seemed relitavely normal until he told us his favourite band of all time is Hearsay! Nearly choked on my ravioli! He then went on to say he liked liberty X...I told him that you dont hear much from them these days...mistake! He knew everything about albums they had released and felt like he needed to share this with us..like we care! Go back to New York! Managed to get rid of this guy...then had a good sleep before setting off the next day to pick up the car!
So next morning...up early...went to call the state parks we were hoping to camp in to ask if they were open....and the guy at the desk today just happened to be the state representative ??? ...someone important anyway....this is the one Jonny had heard all about! The previous day he went up to ask the lady to use the phone....she told him she was watching her son on TV and told him to come through and watch too....just what he wanted hahaha! She was kind enough (lol) to give him a calender with pictures of her son and her family on it...which he reeeeaaalllllly appreciated lol! We thought about putting it up in our house when we finished our trip...but found it much more useful when we went camping and it was getting cold lol! Anyways this guy starts ringing the state parks and throwing his title at the poor person who answered the phone....it was like somehting off 24...bless but he was trying to do us a favour...he came off the phone to tell us that most of the state parks were closed...just great! So now it was just a case of getting the car, driving and hoping to come across somewhere to camp! Turn up at the airport to pick up our snazzy new 4x4....as if....a white hyundai elantra...or in my opinion the grandad car :-)...Niagara falls here we come!
