Hi again. So yesterday was very much a walk around and suck it all in type of day.
I went south towards the financial district yesterday morning and guessed i was in china town when everyone around me was chinese and i could no longer understand what any of the signs meant. I decided to jump on a random bus. I ended up bang slap in the middle of the financial district, which is basically an area filled with the biggest cluster of sky scrapers in NY. I felt so wee :(
I also walked the brooklyn bridge which was amazing and the sights were totally worth it. Looking back, you can see the city reaching for the sky. I explored brooklyn and bought a towel and some water shoes for the West of America next week. God it was hot. I have a tan where ive been wearing my shades...how very uncool...
Ive been drinking nothing but gatorade (an energy drink with lots of carbs in it) and plotting how i can send back 50KG of Sports supplements without spending loads on shipping costs...heheh dont worry, i wont mother.
I was taking a detour to cental park last night and found myself in times square. Basically this is the part made up of buildings that have millions of tv's for walls and lights that would blind you without your shades on. It was amazing. I didnt have my camera so im going to go back tonight and take some. Definately somewhere i would be happy going again anyway.
I cant get over how hospitable most of the people are here. Although i have stated to speak american in shops since i had the feeling some places were ripping me off slighly cos im a tourist. I think im mastering the American accent...and am slowly finding the subtle difference between the accent in the east and that of the west. Im also fixing up my Oz accent...thanks Andrew and Brody (guys from my hostel).
I must say, this has been a very me trip, as people from my room here go out in the evenings and i cant cos im wee 19. Not to worry...an average of 12 hours walking a day makes me tired enough...
Had my first subway...wasnt as great as ive been told it would be...even 'with the extra cheese please.' Rang up and booked my helicopter ride over NY yesterday too so thats tomoro. OK, im off to buy some breakfast ang get what could be my 40th gatorade mmm...oki all...take care and speak soon..
ps. Ill try and get some pics up soon but cant on the pc in the hostel
