Stacey's Adventures
On Saturday, I woke up late, though, with every intention of still laying out again before I left! I headed off to town first, to see when my bus left! By the time I found out, it was noon and the bus left at 2pm! I rushed back, packed up my stuff, said goodbye to the only housemate around, mike, and headed off to catch my bus!
The ride was relatively short and sweet, but I arrived just as everything was closed for afternoon siestas! The streets aren`t clearly marked and my map wasn`t too good, so it was difficult to find my hotel for a bit! A nice lady dragged her 2 kids along helping me, making sure I was taken care of!
That`s something I notice over and over here! Strangers going out of their way to help others; and helping gringos on top of that! No one ever seems to bothered to give information or directions!(even if they dont really know about it or where it is!!)
I stayed at Casa La Familia, which was way out of budget, but ended up being really worth it! Don Claudio was in charge and took immaculate care of everything! Plus, since there is absolutely nothing to do in Santa Cruz after 7pm, I got to watch movies in English all night on the satellite tv! Sometimes you just need a little American trash! (and I would say that Beetheoven`s 2nd counts!)
It was a nice break from the communal rooms or not exactly pristine hostels I have been in! Would be nice if they could all be like that! But then, where`s the adventure?!?
Chao!
