Stacey's Adventures
Claudio, the guy that ran the hotel, was kind enough to drive me to the bus station and make sure I was headed off on the right bus! Unfortunately, in all the baggage handeling, I lost my indispensible phrasebook/dictionary! BIG bummer!!! Fortunately, this website I post on for Lonely Planet thinks I can get a replacement in Pucon! I can make it till then!
After my bus arrived in Curico, I found my hostel, dropped my stuff off, and headed out to see what this city held for me! On the way out, the hostel owner asked if I could come back in like 5 hours because he wanted to go take a siesta and he is the only one around running it right now! I said sure, cause I figured it would be relatively easy to find things to do! Well, I forgot it was Sunday and EVERYTHING is closed!
I headed off to the Plaza De Armas, which was an extremely pretty shaded park with lots of fountains and a cool wrought-iron bandstand! There are a lot of wineries in the area and I was told there was a great tour of them! Turns out, the office and the tours are closed Sundays AND Mondays! So much for that! I am not having too much luck with this wine tour thing, huh?
From there, I saw the spires of what looked like a really cool catedral sticking up out of some buildings, so I headed in that direction! Sunday Mass was taking place, so I snapped a few pictures from afar and headed off! Stopped off for a late lunch/dinner and ended up running into Uda and Andreas from Pichilemu! They had stopped in town for the day and were on their way out!
I still had some time to kill, so I went back to the Plaza De Armas, read, and soaked in the atmosphere! At 6, I went back to my hostel, like the owner had said, but he was nowhere in site! An hour later, he finally showed up! I forgot, everyone here is on Chilean time, that`s a whole other timezone!!! =)
Later in the evening, I found an internet cafe where i was able to webcam with my family! I know it made them all very happy! Then it was back to my hostel, where, in case I didn`t mention it before, I am pretty sure I was the ONLY guest in a 22 room place! DEAD QUIET! At least no one was interuppting my sleep!
CHAO!!
