Stacey's Adventures
So I woke up pretty late after the late night, got ready, and checked out of the hostel! Lissette and I had lunch around the corner before I had to catch my bus! While we were eating lunch, I noticed that there was a wierd name for the destination on the bus ticket that I had bought the day before! When we got back to the hostel, I asked the guy that runs tours there, and he said that the destination I had was actually 5 hours north of Santiago, when I wanted to go 2 hours southwest! I got a refund on my ticket and jetted off to the bus station to see if I could catch the last bus out to Pichilemu! Luckily, I made it and with time to spare!
The bus ride was so great! The sun was slowly setting and the countryside was stunning! It was like driving through the vineyards in Northern California! Very tranquil ride!
Unfortunately, the ride took longer than I thought, so by the time I made it to Pichilemu, it was dark! The moon was full enough, to see the ocean, and, man, did that surf look good! They don`t call it "Chile`s Surfer Paradide" for nothing!
I ended up walking quite a ways to my hostel, which ended up being more like these 2 beach cabin-like things set on a cliff right over the ocean! It was all locked up when I got there, but I could see people upstairs sitting around talking! I tried jumping and waving my arms, ringing the bell, and shaking the gate! Nothing worked, so I took matters into my own hands and threw a pebble (they said it sounded like a boulder) at them! But, hey, it worked!
After settling into my room, I joined everyone upstairs, getting to know each other! There were 6 of us in the 2 cabins, including me: Mike, originally from Canada, but now considers himself an Australian, Adam and Liz from Virginia, and Uda and Andreas from Norway! Before long, I couldn`t keep my eyes open any longer! I thought it was a really nice night and wanted to sleep with the window open and hear the ocean! Boy, did I think wrong! I think the picture is self explanatory! REVENGE OF THE MOSQUITOS!!!!
I was only thinking about hitting the surf the next day and how great it was gonna be to lay out! So, at least I went to sleep with pleasant thought! =)
Chao!
