Third night train over, and it went much better than second one. Stopped for breakfast, and more bloody toast and jam, definitely gonna be more adventurous tomorrow morning.
Loaded up the song thaews and started our 2 hour drive to the national park. We were hot, very sweaty and still wearing same clothes that we had on for over 24 hours. Showering in cold water never sounded so good. Arrived at Koh Sok National park at 11am and Nhoi started the checking in arrangements. At the point only two rooms were available to check into instantly and fort hands up got them. Rachel was outside at this point and I was too sweaty to care, and so lost the immediate check in opportunity. My lack of caring and laid back personality has never paid off till this moment! 'All the remaining rooms are not ready, and so the rest of you have been upgraded to VIP brand new tree houses' to be honest I wasn't that excited, a VIP room in Thailand is probably like a normal hotel. Oh how I was wrong, the rooms were incredible!! The bathroom is like something TY would design on extreme makeover:home edition. The floor was made of pebbles, with sliced tree trunks as stepping stones around bathroom. It had a clean western toilet and plants around the room. The Walls were made to look like cave Walls, all 3D and blasted with sand and in the corner was a waterfall! Yup a floor to ceiling sized waterfall extending from the cave like Walls with the water falling on the pebbles. Was amazing!! You should have seen Tim and Stu's face... I thought Stu was gonna cut off Tim's arm for winning the first rooms.
That afternoon we went tubing, usually this is when you sit in a donut ring and float down a stream at speed along the current. Our session was slightly disappointing due to the low water level and no current. Had to paddle yourself along river, your probably imagining clear blue water.... Try green water filled with green goo. Stu being Stu helped our fears of falling in this dirty water by tipping us upside down and getting it over and done with at the start. Fabulous!
After tubing, we headed home via a temple that is inhabited by wild monkeys. We were given some nuts and allowed to feed them, some of them were just tiny babies... So cute.
Home for a shower to try an clean goo from hair then out for tea. We were given the option if Thai food or Italian. Usually I say I'm easy and go with the majority without a fuss. Not this time, I HATE Thai food and I made the decision for entire group. Everyone was happy though, rice and noodles for past week and a half gets boring.
After tea, we all went for a cocktail or two then let Tim and Stu and anyone else still awake back to our hut for a drink. Regretted this in morning when had to be up, fed and packed by 7.30am.
Breakfast time! Skipped the toast on the menu and went for the banana pancakes. Turned out Thai pancakes are giross! And I wanted my toast and jam, typical!
Two and a half ride in a car then a ferry.... First boat of the holiday, hmmm. Luckily it was a big boat with huge open top deck, so I lay down in the sun for a nap, was braw! Woke up with a burnt armpit... That made carrying two rucksacks really fun. Heyho, made it to Ko Samui!
