As usual, early morning start, but this early start was not as refreshing as before due to late night and strong cocktails night before.
After a 2.5hour drive, 1.5 ferry ride (which I didn't feel travel sick on, result!) and a 30min transfer, we arrived at our hotel and to an amazing beach! Damn this is the life!
Spent a few hours chilling at the beach and in the ridiculously clear sea, and walked along beach front to a wee village called fishermans village, which is filled with market shops, bars and restaurants. We had a agreed to meet the group for tea and so a few of us managed to fit in a cocktail in the village before having to run along beach to get ready in time.
After a day of travelling, I was pooped and headed to room for an early night.
4th of march involved yet another optional day trip, so quick trip to the bank then away we went. The trip was a day at sea (what I was thinking agreeing to go!! I'm definitely testing my travel sickness bands) two hour boat to an even more picturesque island, straight off boat on to a long tailed boat to the beach. No time for sunbathing, straight onto kayaking. It seems kayaking is more work than I thought. 5 mins in I thought my arms were going to fall off and my life jacket was rubbing my sun burn. Rachel was not best pleased at my lack of energy to paddle (I should of sat at the back and she would have never known I kept stopping!). 45 minute later we were back on shore, and snorkelling but was little disappointing due to lack of fish.
By this point I was knackered, whistle blew, back on long tail boat then on to bigger boat for lunch. Eating Thai food on a rocking boat didnt help my dislike of the food and my sea sickness, but I hung in there. 30 mins on the boat to a different Island where we were informed there is the most amazing lagoon ever seen and best kodak moment in Thailand. However, it was bot mentioned that you have to climb a million stairs to get there! Not only normal standard stairs but the ones with the huge gaps between the steps that you can clearly see how far you could fall to your death with one wrong step. Not only that but the architects of these stair cases must have assumed that 'the less stairs the better, so lets make them really steep will only make every second step' resulting in a stair case that intermittently turned into a ladder. Despite my moaning, once reaching the top I was speechless at the view, was gorgeous. It is forbidden to swim in the lagoon, to prevent oily skin polluting the emerald green clear water. It was worth the climb, not so much the descent though.
Back on yet another boat back to ko Samui and headed back to the hotel fir a nap before meeting group for tea in fishermans village. Yet again Italian restaurant was chosen, I was so pleased. Had a wander around the night Market and a few of us ended in a bob Marley bar that served huge cocktails by candle light while lounging on cushions on the beach. Very nice end to the day. In the morning, pack up life in my bag ( that I have become to despise) and start travelling to next island, Ko Tao.
