Good afternoon one and all. Thomas here, as i write anna is fast asleep upstairs havig claim an hour ago she was going for a nap! Anyway we arrived in Brasov yesterday a much nicer place than Bucharest and made our maybe with the help of a few people to the hostel. We were going to get a taxi to the hostel but my writing was unreadable and none of the taxis would take us. So we kind of winged it by getting on the bus and hoping we'd see or recognise signs. Lucky a canadian couple found us and took us to the hostel.
Mush to our delight we got a free drink everyday so i promptly had a beer and we settled in nicely. Today we made our way along through the old town in the sun towards the market and stocked up on fruit. Then having been in the Black curch (so called because its black onm the outside due to a fire recently which scortched the side) we decide to go up the mountain to the Brasov sign over looking the town. Thw Brasov sign is the same as the hollywood sign but obviously says brasov. We climbed to where the cable car goes from (a fair hike) and paid the 6 Lei, about 1.30 pounds, to take us the rest of the way. At the top you can see Brasov in all its glory, and because of the great weather today for miles beyond that.
Having taken in the view and the brasov sign (absolutly huge up close) we made our way tentativly back down the mountain not realising it would take us as long as it did. Having said that it was a good walk. Well thats really all for today we're heading out for dinner at a Romanian restaurant later and i'm sure the local beer and wine will be sampled.
Tomorrow we're going to go and see the catles in and around Brasov. I think one of them is called Dracula castle so we'll see what suprises that brings. I hope this blog has given you something to do Jane rather than watch the dreaded daytime TV (i particularly hate loose women). Also just to say we wont be blogging for a few days, as were travelling on friday to Athens, stopping of in Sofia for the night. Hence we wont have access to the internet. I can't wait to sit on a train for 25 hours. Anyway bye for now from all of us (well steve and I as Anna is still upstaris).
