Hej Hej! So im waiting in the Goteberg Train Station to leave, note that it is nice and warm in here... finally. Today was the longest day of my life, I think. I got out of the hostel pretty early (7:30 or so) since I couldn´t sleep last night. There were only four of us girls in the dorm but I was still a little weirded out. When I got to the hostel room, I met some guys from Colorado and Chicago in the living room just hanging out and watching TV so we chatted like the whole night then they went to a bar and I went to my room. I was doing gret, unpacking and all and getting ready to go to bed when this woman from the Netherlands walks in. Ok so I wasn´tquite in the mood to talk because I was so exhausted, I just wanted to go to bed. But according to this lady I couldn´t sleep yet. She just kept talking and talking and talking..... and talking. Told me her whole life story practically. And when I said I was from America she´s like Oh I´ve never been there... I told her it´s a great place... and she´s like Sure, I don´t think so. Then I left the room! I finally got back to sleep though around 1 am.... woke up at 6 am though! Not what I was hoping for.... oh well what can you expect when I slept with my purse right next to my body the whole night, praying no one is a thief! haha. Then I wake up and what do you know... the talkative lady is already up! She´s like you´re an early riser too? where ya headed`? I did my best to be polite, but avoided any initiation of questions.... my bad. So I left and went to look at some churches this morning. The first one I was at was gorgeous. I was walking up a hill to get there... the suspense was building! At the top of the hill was a beautiful view of western Goteberg! I felt like I had just climbed a mountain (the streets were tall!) and at the top I received the award of the view... thats how cool it was! haha. then I asked this old woman to take a picture of me.... it´s ok. haha. I aksed her about the Maritime museum and she pointed in a direction I thought was opposite of where I thought it really was.... but I walked that way anyway because I had the whole day ahead of me.... I was looking specifically for historical facts and just statues I guess. It turned out to be a museum and I found some names on a plaque underneath a staute from the years of 1914-1925 or so and even found an "A.W.Johannson!" I felt pretty special.... haha.
At this point in the day it is snowing prety hard and it is windy. I am still dry though. But asI kept walking, my feet kept geting wetter and wetter. I should have thought twice about the weather here before I left and about the shoes choice. I wanted to be comfortable, not fashionable. But I think the fashionable "UGG" boots I had would have been WAY better..... my socks were soaked and I felt like I was walking in water! It was so gross! so my feet have been FREEZING the whole day! I had to spend like an hour and a half in a restaurant for lunch just to warm them up! I even went to a small cafe and had a hot chocotolate, sat in the corner and RUNG MY SOCKS OUT! Yes, I RUNG them out because they had so much water in them... sad huh? I think so. haha yet still funny. So when I was in the restaurant for lunch, killing time bcause I had so much of it, I heard some music from Jack Johnson. I was so HAPPY to hear music from HOME! It was like a god send.... I swear! I crummy day and then when I heard the music I got all excited! haha. It was a good moment of the day I guess! I walked and I walked around to kill the time. I didn´t need to wake up as early as I did... if the weather would have been nicer I would have gone to the outdoor garden but I didnt want my feet to be any colder or wtter than they were and I figured it would be prettier in the summer... so I walked again. The city is actually very large but once you´re walking in it it seems small!
I had a goot two days here.... I think if I were to come back I would do it mroe in the summer time (obviously because of the weather!) and during the week.... when the musuems are actually open! None of them were open on Mondays so thats why today was kind of slow.... I went shopping though! The mall was open (of course) and I bought myself a pair of boots... the thing Is I couldnt wear them today because my socks are so wet I didnt want to ruin a new pair of boots... of Swedish boots for that matter!
I am so exchausted and tired I just want to sleep on the train. One thing thiscity has a lot of is cafes. they are everywhere you look, around every corner too. Its crazy. I wonder if alll these people just have caffeine highs and are never normal??? Oh and a little tip for those of you who have to go to the bathroom a lot...... go to a bathroom outside of the malls or train statiosn here! you have to PAY 5 SEK!!!!! that´s ridiculous if you ask me, especially someone who has to go a lot! Just another stupid way to make money I guess. Oh and I went in to a Pressbyrån (the local drugstores, per se) to find a magazine. They had all the magazines you could ask for, but no in English. c´mon! they had all the other languages (Dutch, Spanish, French, Japanese even!) but no.... not English! And the one I did find was Oprah but you know how much it cost??? 90 SEK! That´s about $13!!! Sorry Oprah, not worth it to me.
So overlal this trip was worth it. Like I said before, come in the summer time and during the week, I think it will be way better than now. It was a great spur of the moment trip and I´m excited for mroe of them! :) Keep checking for when I post my pictures! Hejdo!
