Yesterday, we hired a tour guide to walk us through all the streets and show us the most popular sights of Varanasi. I saw some amazing things that have honestly made me notice how lucky I really was (how cliche) but really, every person you spoke to had a smile on their face and wanted to shake your hand.
"Where you from?"
"Australia!"
"aw! Ricki ponting!!"
That night jamie took us to a fire festival. After an awesome festival by the Ganga river by night we walked through the markets. We went to the German bakery where we were to eat dinner as we were walking through markets a cow manages to make its way through a group of about 500 people and walk over a cattle grid as if it wasn't even there.. The best part was all the locals where just so cool about it and it didn't seem to bother anyone at the slightest. After dinner we went and watched a traditional music show with conga drums and sitars. Almost every one fell asleep, either it was the music that lulled as to sleep, or everyone was just tired from walking through dark, dirty alleyways at 4 that very morning. Either way the music was such a fantastic performance.
