Who would have thought we would have had such an adventure just catching the train? Our goal for the day was to break the students in gently and take them to a harmless shopping centre. The first challenge was to get them to buy their own tickets, a task easily accomplished. The next step was to wait on the platform, board the train and then get off at the correct stop, making sure we adults didn't leave any students behind. Every student had an assigned student buddy and was under an adult supervisor. The first hiccup came in the form of a delayed train: no worries, we'll just wait for the next one ( along with the ever increasing multitudes). The next problem came in the form of a seriously overstuffed train. OK, we can cope with this: "Adult supervisors, make sure you account for your students and just squeeze in as quick as you can!". Ready, set, go! Mmmm, not going to happen. OK, change of plans. Let's just wait for the next train. Unfortunately, upon a quick head count after the train had departed, we discovered that four members of the party had succeeded in squeezing themselves into the packed train. But, no need to panick, it was four adults! ( so much for supervising the students!!!) :) needless to say, they got the bucket award for the day upon the safe arrival of the rest of the group at our desired destination.
