Off to the Batu Caves -sacred Hindi limestone caves about 30 minutes by train from KL.
The train trip was comfortable, cheap (30 cents ) and on time!
We all got off the train and headed out onto the cave entrance. Before we entered the caves Jamie Dorrington gathered is altogether to talk to us about the temple and it's customs. He told us that women were meant to be covered up and walk in a respectable distance behind the males. So he gathered the boys together and made the girls wait behind them. It didn't take long for the girls to work out it was bologne! They were a little miffed!
The caves were set back into the hillside with a beautiful gold statue of Shiva at the entrance. To enter the caves you had to walk up 263 steps. All along the way were monkeys. The monkeys were sacred here because the Hindu temple was a tribute to many gods including the monkey god. The monkeys were like naughty children. They ran at you and helped themselves to the garbage or anything lying around.
We caught the train back to KLSentral and changed lines to get to China Town. A shopping frenzy followed to purchase 'Roy Bans' and clothes.
After china town, we came back to the YMCA and had some down time before some people went to the cinemas to see a $2.30 movie.
Tomorrow we travel to Cambodia!!
