Heading back to the U S today after a couple of days in London. The ship docked Saturday at Dover, so we had a great view of the White Cliffs. We took the train to Central London, to our hotel near Trafalgar Square, and except for some rain that afternoon we had a great time walking around and seeing our favorite places: Covent Garden, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Victoria Embankment Gardens, and Buckingham Palace. Another great day! We rented segways (over Susan's protest) and took a guided tour of Copenhagen! No broken bones, no wrecks, not even the "F" word! None of the 6 of us had done it before, but it was easy and we had a great time. Saw all the sites in thia beautiful city. After our tour we stopped at an open air market for duck confit sandwiches!! On Wednesday we headed out with two other couples to explore the towns of Warnemunde, Rostock, and Schwerin. . .and made it back to the ship! It was a chore. All the railway signs are printed in a foreign language! We had a great time. Warnemunde is a small town on the Baltic Sea that has become quite touristy because of the cruise ship traffic. We walked into town, and then took the train to Rostock. Pretty rolling farm country--very green and a good hay crop ...

Amazing was all we could say most of the time as we spent 3 days touring St. Petersburg. The City is absolutely beautiful! We had a great tour guide, who was fun to be with and extremely informative. Since it was just 6 of us she could share all the details of what we were seeing plus tell us a lot about life in Russia. We had great weather in Stockholm and enjoyed seeing the city--home of the Nobel Prize, ABBA, Bjorn Bjorg to name just a few. A highlight of the trip was our visit to the Vasas Museum. The museum houses the restored wooden sailing ship from the 1630. It was sunk on its maiden voyage of 20 minutes. Found and salvaged in the 1970's.
