After a long journey across Cambodia to the Vietnam border, we arrived in Ho Chi Minh city. The hotel we are staying in is actually pretty nice, didn't expect it. It's a complete change here in Vietnam, a lot more crowded and A LOT of traffic! It's very daunting trying to cross the road here, motorbikes coming from everywhere! One actually clipped my hand as it came past, so that was scary.
Before arriving in Ho Chi Minh city, we stayed in a local town just as a stop over. It was very scary! We all looked so out of place! Me and one of the girls Vilde, went on a walk around the city, but we got followed by so many people, so we went back to the hotel as soon as we could! One cool thing we did do that night though is that we all got on motorbikes and were driven up the the mountain "Sam Mountain" to see the sunset. The ride up there was terrifying! I was just gripping onto the back of the seat, fearing for my life!! But once we were up there, we all relaxed on the hammocks, watching the sunset with a few drinks. Heaven!
We had a walk around Ho Chi Minh city yesterday with the group and our tour guide and he showed us the places to go. It was definitely a big difference to Cambodia. We then met up with 6 new people who were joining the tour, and we all went out for dinner. I feel pretty guilty, I had a chicken kebab! But I was missing that sort of stuff! A couple of us then went out for a couple of drinks, it was pretty expensive, so I only stayed for one - I had a chocolate milkshake! It was good though! Then came back to the room to sort stuff. A lot of the group had decided to go to the tunnels used during the Vietnam war the next day, but I didn't really fancy it. So me, and a few of the other girls decided to go to the war remenant museum. There were a lot of interesting planes there, which I'm sure Lian will be very jealous that he didn't get to see! But that was prettty horrific, saw a few disturbing pictures. But nothing compared to the killing fields we visited in Cambodia last week.
Right now, we are all preparing ourselves for the overnight train to Nha Trang. I'm not quite sure how long it's going to take, but we are leaving at 8pm tonight and should arrive pretty early tomorrow morning. So we've got a full day ahead lying on the beach! We're spending two nights there and then on to Hue. This train shall be an experience, not sure what to expect!
