I am now exactly 12 days on the road. So far the trip has been great. New York was fantastic. Enjoyed staying with friends in the Village which feels like a small town in the big city. It is good to stay with friends who love and know the city. Was great to spend some time with them in their favourite city. Thanks guys! I went to see most the major sights...Empire State (I used to be called that back at school in Brazil being the tallest in the whole school..even taller then the headmaster and teachers!), Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Wall Street, Central Park, Washington Square, Meatpacking District, Little Italy, China Town, Lower East Side, Apple Store . New York is great in autumn...I actually even had a day of 25 degrees (is this the Indian Summer people talk about?) and lots of colorful trees and blue skies. I must say what I enjoyed the most in NY is to just walk around and get feel of the city. People are very friendly, help you if you seem lost. Especialy in the Village and Soho it is very relaxed. Amazing that you can eat almost any kind of food here...they even have a Pain Quotidien like in Paris and Brussels! It is so easy to travel in NY using the metro system...just need to know whether you are going uptown or downtown. Shopping here is fantastic, especially with the euro burning in your pocket. Unfortunately, I have limited space in the backpack so just entered the Apple store to see what nice gadgets you can buy. So I just stuck to a nice t-shirt at the GAP store. Will be able to have last look around NY on Monday when I am waiting for my flight to Rio so might just have a look at one of the museums..Guggenheim or MaMo. I will add some pictures later on from the New York experience.
