Hello everyone,
Well we had a good time in Koh Phangan, especially the half moon party!!
We arrived on 17th January and we made our trip to the island soley for the half moon. It was only a 50 min ferry trip from Koh Samui. We checked into a hotel which was pretty nice and really cheap, we paid 4 pounds a night each and had a double and a single bed and a nice big bathroom. We didn't arrive until latish the 1st day and we just had a wander around, went to the beach and had a few beers on our balcony before bed.
The second day was the day of the half moon party and we had a pretty lazy day. It got to later on and we went out for dinner and got ready. We had a couple of drinks on our balcony, which we think was the big mistake of the night! We have been drinking a lot of Chang while we have been in Thailand which is a local beer in bottles, it is bigger than a pint and 6.4%! After a couple of these we went down to the bar as there were free drinks. We got talking to a couple from Ireland, who had coloured paint so Matt and I thought it would be a great idea to draw all over our faces and down our arms. We had TURDY in massive letters down our arms!! The hotel where we were staying had organised a taxi service to drop off and pick up, the earliest time to be picked up was 4am!! We didn't leave to go to the party until around 1am though so it wasn't as bad as we 1st thought as we are getting too old for all night parties!! The party was out in the jungle and as soon as we arrived Matt and I never saw each other again!! It was a very funny night, from what Matt remembers he spent the entire night being sick somewhere and then dancing with random people, while I was with the Irish couple for a while and then with a Swedish guy from our hotel! Matt got the taxi back at 5.30am after launching himself at him and hanging on the back. The taxis aren't like normal taxis they don't have back and people sit along the side facing each other, sort of like a van without the back!! I went home at 6am!! It was avery good night from what we remember which unfortunately isn't a great deal!!
The third day in Koh Phangan we spent in bed nursing hangovers we can only describe as awful and we think its due to the Chang beer as we really didn't have much to drink at all!!
The next morning we got up and set off on our mammoth journey to Chiang Mai, consisting of a ferry, a bus, 2 trains and quite a lot of waiting in between, however 34 hours later we have arrived and I'll give you an update of what we get up to soon!!
Speak soon
