Hello everyone,
Well Bangkok has been very hot! We arrived after our 12 hour train journey from Chiang Mai and got straight in a taxi to the Khao San Road, where we have been staying for the last 5 days. The Khao San Road is pretty cool with a lot of stalls, cafes, bars and restaurants. It doesn't seem to sleep! It is also backpacker central with hundreds of travellers on it.
The 1st day was not one to remember, Matt and I were both really ill and spent the entire day in bed, not a great 1st day in Bangkok!
The last few days we have been more productive and been to The Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, which is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The temples are stunning here, with so much decoration on them, they are very pretty. We have also been to Wat Pho which houses the largest reclining Buddha and it was huge! We have also spent a fair amount of time in the shopping malls trying to pick up some bargains which isn't hard to do. Everything is so cheap here. The craft markets are really cool with loads of things that I wanted to buy!
We also went to the cinema one day. Thailand is very patriotic and no one can say a bad word against the King or else you can find yourself in jail, along with stepping on anything with the Kings head on so if you drop any money it is best to let it blow away! Before the film started everyone had to stand up for the national anthem which was quite funny in a way.
Last night, on our last night in Thailand we went up to one of the city sky bars which was amazing. It was on the 61st floor of a hotel and it was open top with views of the entire city. We didn't mind spending the money on the drinks as the views were worth it.
Thailand has been a really good place to come and visit, Bangkok is crazy with all the little Tuk Tuks zooming around the streets. We have really enjoyed it but onwards and upwards, we fly to Malaysia today for a couple of days in Kuala Lumpur and then our last stop of China. Only 13 days until we fly back to England!!
