Hey all
I've finally managed to upload my photos (the best ones anyway)!! The titles of the albums are the first and last places in the albums, so the Cape Reinga-Queenstown includes everything between that as well.
I've made a small attempt to add captions, and I'll hopefully cont to do this, but I've already spent ages doing all this (well over an hour now), and thought it would be more fun to update my blog.
Yesterday was an okay day--the Blue Mountains Day Tour Day. However, it wasn't really for our age group, so we might have had more fun with a different company--oh well. The highlight of the trip was definately the railroad (pictured above)--the steepest railway in the world!! It's at an incline of 52 degrees, and it goes really really fast! Other than that, we saw the blue mountains, the 3 sisters (a rock formation), went on a boat to come back and all that. We finished in Circular Quay, so we got to see Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, and because we ate dinner there (so much restaurant food...so expensive...we're getting soooo worried about that now :S ), we saw the sun set over the landmarks which was really nice. And then got the train back (on the top level!).
Oh, and I forgot to say--on our first day here, tired as we were, we managed to walk to Sydney Tower (again at sunset), with really amazing views of the city. It also inclued "OzTrek" and some 3D movie type things about Australia; they were okay, but not fantastic. Good value for money though, as all this was only AUS$40 each.
Today has been a nice day...will probably be incredibly sunburn tomorrow as we haven't put sunscreen on. I'm afraid Adam will now die. But basically we slept in, did our laundry, took showers (nice ones, even if there are like 10 in one room across the hostel!), and wandered around for lunch (nice nice burgers again). Then we finally managed to find a decent pharmacy place that sold all the toiletries we have been looking for since we got here, and dry shampoo! Some girls told me about it in New Zealand--basically you brush it through dry hair if you haven't had a chance for a shower, and it makes it all pretty again. I'm very excited, especially for its use in the next week or so. I also found a nice pretty dress that was on sale ($10!). Unfortunately I couldnt find another bikini so it'll be the one when on the boat and surfing...so a bit of a b***** really.
Anyway, that's about it for today! Without going into amazing detail anyway. Tomorrow we head up to Proserpine (without knowing how we're getting to the hostel from the airport, should be fun as it's 40km away). The day after we start on our 6 day sailing thing on the Solway Lass (look it up on Southern Cross Australia if you're interested). Then we spend another night in Airlie Beach (Proserpine), then fly back down to Brisbane for a night, somehow get to Byron Bay for a night, then start our 4 day learn to surf package which finishes back here in Sydney. It's very different from a month on the Kiwi Experience bus!!
Wish me luck--I probably won't be able to update my blog for at least a week, and I'm not sure if we'll have internet access during the surfing package. Hope everyone's having a good winter!
