G'day peeps!
We have now returned from our outback adventures, and what a blast we have had! In fact we are considering painting ourselves black and becoming Aboriginals… you know living from the land being at one with the culture and all that! Just forward all our belongings to: Aboriginal Sparky & Whizzel
No 2 Uluru
The Bush
Northern Territory
Australia
We have had an action packed 6 days that's for sure! Where to start really. We left that hole they call Darwin early last Monday morning & started a long drive down to Katherine Gorge; We went on this speed boat thing down the gorge and even saw a Crocodile. Then the fun started as they showed us our camp site! OMG!! What a place you will have to see the video to believe it. They were like little shacks in the middle of no where & there were gaps in them so the snakes & that could get in to play!! Oh yeah there were no beds or lights either! So we just got really drunk and laughed it off with our new German friends who also felt like they were playing an extra part in the Blair Witch project. I made Graham check the shack 3 times for snakes before I would even get in it! Needles to say we arranged an upgrade for the second part of the 6 day trip to a Safari in Style (Oh what a snob I am!)
Next we headed further south towards Alice Springs, not too much to report just heaps of driving but we did stop off at Daly Waters pub(the oldest one in Oz) The beer was top class & I now even have my very own signed Guernsey £1 note behind the Bar. The following day we went to these cool rock things called the devils marbles (got heaps of good pictures) and eventually reached civilization (well sort of) It was some cruddy back backer place they had arranged for us to stay at (again getting drunk can really make these places look like the Hilton! In a fuzzy drunk kinda way!)Although I was not drunk enough to miss the cockroach in our room… AHHHHHH
So we headed out to the bush for the second & best part of the trip! Uluru. We saw the sun set over it with a bottle of bubbly and a few nibbles & then retired to our luxury tent (including proper bed & Light) after one of our many slaves cooked us a meal! Then we had an early start to see the sun rise over Uluru and then an 8 kilometer walk around the base of the rock (not to mention the 5 Kilometer walk the day before!) At this rate with all the walking I am gunna be like a twig! (Well I can only Hope eh!) Then on the last day of the tour we did another 8 kilometer rock climbing thing around this gorge called Kings Canyon, it was such a wicked place! Really enjoyed it.
After a one night stop over in Alice Springs in a nice hotel we flew to Sydney & then got a transfer to Newcastle.
We have only been here an hour or two so can't say too much about the place just yet. One thing I can say though. It looks like I will be arranging the second accommodation upgrade of the trip!! (That's a record!) We have walked back in to the seventies when we got to our hotel. Errrr ummm can't really put it in to words (Sh*t Hole?) Look at the pictures to see for yourselves.
Is it just me or do I have a bit of a thing about hotels & accommodation?! Ahhh bless me I just like the nice & not the tack!
Well think I had better go and find a bottle of wine, and after drinking it the room may look nicer! Hee hee. May be moving to the bush is gunna be the best option?
But apart from our accommodation we are having a blast eating, drinking, and meeting new peeps & all that holiday stuff!
Hope you are all well.
Cheers
