Southwestern Excursion
Zion park was absolutely beautiful! We were taken away with the views. While it was a hot day at 104 degrees, we still hiked a trail. As we pulled up to the park we saw signs saying to park outside the park because it was full inside. We ignored those signs and waited in the line of cars to get in. We found a spot right away in the visitor center parking lot. The visitor center was crawling with people and it took us a few minutes to figure out what was going on. They had free shuttle service throughout the canyon to cut down the car traffic. We took a shuttle out to the lodge & walked the Emerald Pools trail. The place was so amazing that my oldest son suggested coming back to stay at the lodge. This was the 1st national park he has ever expressed interest in coming back to stay. After our hike we cooled off in a stream for a while. Then we went shopping in the gift shop and I got a hiking hat. We then took the shuttle back to our car. Since we were "close" to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon we decided to drive there for sunset on the way to our hotel for the night. We drove back through Zion park and drove through a couple of rock tunnels. The scenery was amazing! I took 167 pictures. Here's a small sample.
