Southwestern Excursion
We spent a few hours in the Sandia Mountains. The tram was very neat. It was recommended to me by a friend and I very glad we went here. The tram is a 15 minute ride up the mountain. It is the longest passenger tram in the world. It also happens that it is Cibola National Forest & a ski resort. The ride up was nice. Our ride operator pointed out things of interest on the way up. Once at the top we walked out to a nice cool breeze. It was 99 degrees on the ground, but it was about 70 up on the mountain. There was a large deck overlooking Albuquerque at the top and also a restaurant. We decided to take a hike. We walked along a nice shady a trail along the crest of the mountain. Since we had a few other places to go to today we rode back down & headed out to our next stop, the Petrified Forest.
