Yesterday we went for an Asian scenic cooking school course. Firstly Arry took us to the local market and showed us the ingredients we'd be using and showed us different types of rice and noodles. After we went back to the school and we got to choose three courses to make... Arry kept saying the hotter the curry the sexier the curry and sexier in the toilet to paha. He was a funny guy with so many quotes; "s*** Happens" was included. He was also the tallest Thai man I've ever seen in my life must've been at least 6'5"!
I made pad Thai, spring rolls and massaman curry. Making pad Thai wasn't as hard as I thought, but upon returning home I should probably invest in a wok and a gas cooker. After, me and Ben volunteered to make the fillings for the spring rolls (which was fairly stressful - have to be fast with stir fries because they burn fast). Then we all had a little spring rolling competition, scores were out of ten and based on firmness of the filling. Nicola ended up winning with a score of 9, but I wasn't far behind with a solid 8.7. Spring rolls cooked in fifteen seconds, and tasted awesome. Next was the curry, we made our own curry paste too, grinding all those chillies and veg together. Arry helped grind ours, but his manic grinding skills caused some of the paste to fly out of the bowl straight into Nicola's eye! Blinded, Sam and Jessie took her to the sink to wash it out. She was in a pretty bad way.. The chili in the air alone was enough to hurt my eyes let alone actual chilli inside an eye, poor Nic. The curry was real nice too! At the end we got little cook book of all the things that were on the menu :). Then we got lift back to the hotel.
