God willing, our next big trip is to the Philippines in January of 2013. Till then, we will play tourists in our home city of New York. Lots of things to do anyway.
Today, we decided to go to Columbus Circle to check out "Discovering Columbus", an exhibit by the Public Art Fund featuring the work of Tatzu Nishi. This Japanese artist manages to build a living room around the 13 foot high statue of Columbus which was built in 1862. The iconic statue towers over Columbus Circle from a height of 60 feet. From the living room, you get a 360 degree view of the nearby attractions including Central Park.
Great weather to walk around the city today. After Columbus, we went to Gray's Papaya to sample their famous hotdogs and papaya drink. Too bad Sam had to go to work, so he dropped me off at Grand Central to take the train back home.
