Welcome to the rainy and grey pacific northwest! I left LA on Sunday afternoon and arrived into Portland, Oregon on Monday at 11am, it was a hellish bus journey that took 23hours of crazy americans that smelt of urine and things that cannot be described. I spent Monday in Portland which was ok, a very relaxed city, i wasn't bothered to only spend one day/one night there as there wasnt that much, i guess it was just a stopping point before heading up here. I went to Washington Park and walked around the city during the day and evening and then met some nice Americans back at the hostel, not a late night of drinking for me, i passed out around 10.30pm which was needed after my last night in LA on Saturday and no sleep on the bus on Sunday. I woke up early this morning and took a 4hour bus to Seattle. i love Seattle! My kinda place, lots of coffee, culture and quirky things to see. Today i walked around with a guy i met in Portland who happened to be on the same bus as me, we went to Pike market which is literally opposite my hostel and i like it there alot. We also went to the first ever Starbucks which is also round the corner and walked down the waterfront. After he left i wandered around and got my bearings and got my ticket for Vancouver. Tomorrow should be good, i plan on doing abit of shopping-i need some shoes, the californian concrete ruined my toms and they also cannot stand rain so i need to buy some boots for the next month of wet cold weather! I'm also meeting a girl who lives here that i made friends with in LA, it will be good see a familiar face and i plan to go to the Space needle and explore the city some more before leaving on Thursday morning.
I haven't written in a while so i'll do a quick re-run of my last week-it was my birthday obviously on Thursday which was top, had a really good night, i got presents which was totally unexpected and lovely of course. I spent my week sunbathing and enjoying what i called home for 3weeks- West Hollywood. Had a fabulous send off which included bottomless bucks fizz and standard partying in the basement. Looking forward to going back to LA at some point in the near future. But now my real travels have begun as i will be travelling from city to city pretty much on a daily basis, its a good thing im a walker because its the only way to explore.
Missing the sun and 80degree temperature, its raining in Seattle but it's kinda nice because it reminds me of home. Canada will be bitter but im looking forward to it so much.
