Crossing the Cambodian Border was blissful. I like Cambodia already! Kelz had a Ko Chi tunnels-inspired nightmare on the bus which was hilarious. 'No we're not dead'. We ended up at a hostel whose honesty we appreciated- it was called 'OK guesthouse'. It was okay actually. The streets here are really clean and there are lots of parks everywhere. It's alot more like Thailand than Vietnam in terms of Temples and monks but obviously poorer than Vietnam. Had a gander by the Royal Palace.
Long journey to the killing fields was interesting- it was so dusty and once you get out of the city, very barren. It was very haunting being at the killing fields and learning about the atrocities that resulted with the death of about 20,000 people. I really can't believe that was happening in the 70's! To add to a very cheerful day we headed to S-21 prison, a school that had been turned into a torture centre for the Khmer Rouge, to make people plead guilty to things that they hadn't done in order that they could kill them and their families!
Clothes shopping in Asian countries makes me feel obese.
Went for a lovely walk along the promenade and found a resturant with a balcony overlooking it for dinner. The Park outside the Royal Palace, which was lit up, was full of people sitting watching a big screen- the King had just died. Lots of children did come up to us and beg for money :(
