Day Ninety One - October 5th, 2013
The Great Ocean Road
Torquay
I slept properly for the first time in too long, and even had a lie in while Elliot surfed. I woke up when then tent became unbearably hot, and emerged to a glorious day. Elly came back from his morning session and we walked into town and meandered around the shops with the other Saturday morning walkers. A lovely start to the day!
At least two hours had passed since his last surf, so of course Elly was ready to get back in. I sat on the sunny grass verge above the beach and struggled to watch him dive down under what seem to me to be huge waves, and avoid the tens of other people all jostling for their spot on the line up. I tried to figure out if it's more nerve wracking watching him play rugby, or catch a wave. I guess I'm destined to be on the edge of my seat. He caught some good rides and I soaked up the sun before we headed in for lunch. We returned to the tent and ended up taking a three hour nap. I guess Elly had an excuse after an early morning and two strenuous surf sessions, but really, I had no alibi. Therefore I grabbed the last bit of sun and my trainers and had a run along the costal road. It was my first workout outside since entering the desert. Thank god for running! It felt fab to be back out there.
Homemade guacamole for dinner, a nature program about the Outer Hebrides, and we've had a great day.
