Moved from the hostel to a nice 4* hotel near Lahaina. Ka'anapali Resort contained quite a few hotels linked together by a free shuttle bus, it was amazing!! We were upgraded to a garden cottage overlooking the golf course and about 30m from the pool and stunning beach! We'd hit the jackpot as it was only $20 more than the aweful hostel, managed to see the offer on the net!! Thank god!! ROAD TO HANA! Me, hannah, kisrtena dn kate set off early around 8am, stopped for a starbucks and then headed on our journey....the road to Hana. This road started upper north of the island at Pa'ia and goes all the way east to Hana. It winds around the mountains and barely has a straight section of road! STOP 1 - Ho'okipa beach. Caught up with some laundry this morning. In the afternoon we decided to catch the bus to the south of the island. We had to wait for the bus which didnt come as we were on the wrong side of the road, as told by the hostel staff! We finally got to the Ka'ahumanu centre and we had to change buses, an hours wait. Met up with Kirsten and michael and went on a drive around west Maui. We hit Lahaina first and walked up and down front street looking in the shops and galleries. We then drove around the hair pin bends and found a good stop. We walked down a load of stairs to find Slaughterhouse Beach, very good for snorkling and body surfing apparently.
