After the best nights sleep we headed to Union station to catch our train to Vancouver. The train was a double decker...unfortunately there were no sleeper carriages even after 3 days of trying! We had to grin and put up with the thought of 51 hours on the coah class of the train :(
After a about 8 hours we stopped in Minneapolis for an hour as we were really ahead of schedule...we dashed into the ticket office in the last ditch attempt of getting some sleep over the next 2 days.... our luck was finally in, there was a delay with another train and some people missed their connection to our train - there were sleepers available!!! YES!!!! It was about 250 quid but that was well worth it as they can be as expensive as 600! We grabbed our bags from coach and said farewell to our fellow passengers with a smug smile on our faces! We arrived at our sleeper to find that this consisted of a broomcupboard with 2 tiny beds...which i made hannah go on the top bunk! Ok...we shouldnt complain!!! At least we got to stretch out and sleep!!! I slept a little, hannah like a baby. I was petrified that the swinging of the train was gonna topple the bloody thing over and Hannah thought it was great as it rocked her to sleep! We passed through the Northern states of Illinois, Wisconsin, & Minnesota.
