Had breakfast on the balcony. weather very hot so we decided to hire a car to tour the island - i dont trust myself on a scooter!!! We ordered an MX5 but as it wasnt ready they gave us a BMW Z3 for the same price! It was very nice, until we got 10 mins down the road when the tire i saw the mechanic blowing up went flat again! Cheeky b*****s! We had to wait 40mins for them to pick us up, thank god i had my mobile with me!!! By that time the MX5 was ready....it was a nice car but had obviously been battered! It was like a tin can and i was certain that the bottom of the car was going to fall out!
We toured the island and stopped outsdie the "Fruits of Raratonga" shop where there is good snorkling. I snorkled for a couple of hours while hannah slept on the beach - the girl can sleep anywhere at anytime! We drove back to the main town and met up with a guy called steve from the hostel. We all went and had an ice cream and watched the local carving their boats from massive logs for the up and coming boat race. Two weeks of racing, a very big thing on the island and people come from samoa, NZ, tahiti and hawaii to compete. It poured with rain so we took shelter and watched the local kids jumping into the sea from the harbour. We then drove back and got ready for the hostel BBQ. The owner Paul cooked us a great BBQ of sausages and swordfish with salad. We all sat in the common area and chatted. I listened to staries from Mike all night - he was a 60 year old guy who basically just travelled, he had no fixed abode but his stories where legendary!! Nick and Linds came to see our digs and we all sat chatting and watching the waves under the moonlight until about 2 in the morning.
