Hi everyone sorry it's been so long but we've literally been so busy!
Tuesday 13th Feb:
We left the farm today so had to say our goodbyes to the Alpacers and fields as we were off to Rockingham where Mary's sister lives. When we arrived we headed straight for the beach and went for a swim in safety bay - although we weren't sure how safe it was as we had already been warned of sharks! It was beautiful clear water however and was very warm. We even went for a walk along the beach. After lunch we went back down to the beach and had some more time sun bathing although this time we got a bit burnt (don't worry Mum's it was a one off and we lackered on the after sun! And it's turned a nice brown now) Laurie then drove us around the area and went past beautiful coast, some black swans - thought of Nic! and some huge mansions where some famous tennis players live.
In the evening we both donned the aprons and had the best bbq EVER which we both helped cook, surprisingly nobody got food poisening as Miss Bridger would have suspected. Had so much food including sausages, steak, skewers and potato and bacon bake - had to get a mention! .......and a bit to drink of course.
Laurie wanted us to see the sunset as you only get them on the west side and they are beautiful over the beach. We were a bit short of time as the sun was dissappearing so we had to run...yes run.....to the beach but it was worth it! Got some snaps coming soon.
Wednesday 14th Feb (Still in Rockingham) HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE!
Laurie woke us up as early as Marr and Lest were heading home and we had so say a fond farewell. It was sad saying goodbye as we'd had such a great time with them and they'd been so kind but we were excited to get our way over to the east coast. We even managed to persuade Lest to give Marr some flowers on valentines day although the poem went something like this:
'Roses are red, Violets are blue, you are like the rain, drip drip drip, just like you'
Not quite what we had in mind as you can imagine!
We left for penguin island at 9am, there is a stretch of sand that leads to the island that you can walk along but people have drowned doing this and so we stuck to the boat. When we got to the island there were lots of birds sweeping over us...and not too many penguins although we did see a couple. The island reminded us of the Alfred Hitchcock film 'Birds'. We also saw pelicans and a few lizards which was quite exciting.
To replace the vegemite we've now gone off we had honey and peanut butter on toast, a must if you've never tried it. After the island we went for lunch in Freemantle which was lovely and Laurie very kindly paid for. It was a very trendy bar and after walking around Freemantle decided that we really liked it. We were driven back to Helen's that afternoon, we loved spending time with Lauroie and Paddy - they were so kind and lots of fun!
Di, (Helen's daughter) took us to the big shopping centre up the road that afternoon which is always good! We had a delicious ice cream that evening with the family in a really nice park and a great view over Perth.
