Wednesday 7th:
This morning was an early start because we were travelling to Albany which is about a five and a half hour drive. Soph woke up feeling pretty rough, very dizzy and couldn't breath through the night, but with the vaselina and nasal inhalers in tow we were ready for the journey......or so we thought!
Audrey was driving (Lesters sis) and it was Em, Soph and Mary in the back. We stopped off at Wagin to stretch our legs, there was a nice park here but the whole journey so far the view had been sheep and fields, sheep and fields, o and the odd cow.
When we arrived at Albany we booked into a motel and we went to their room next door for lunch of sandwiches that Mary had made. Soph hadn't had dinner or breakfast so was feeling a tad peckish to say the least and for those of you who know Soph well a hungry Soph is an angry Soph! Lunch was sandwiches that Mary made before we left, the choice was Egg or beef salad with tomato relish which Soph reached for. Em opted for the egg. after politely excusing ourselves we devised a plan to smuggle some food into our room without being discovered!
Luckily the others suggested going shopping and so we were able to head for a bakery and with Em's huge handbag managed to fit crisps and chocolate in which we were very grateful for later!
Audrey then showed us around Albany which is beautiful. we climed 80 steps - burning off the egg sandwiches, to see a huge statue and great view of the coast. Then we went on to two amazing beaches; Middleton beach and Emu point. Pure white sand, deep blue clear water and palm trees, what you would call paradise.
Anyway back to the food, for dinner we had fish and chips but lo and behold the shop didn't have the normal cod! we had to chose between Snapper, Dori or Shark. We decided to have Dori but tasted the others shark which was quite tasty. As Soph was eager to get munching she attempted to open the Tommy K which has a different opening mechanism to the UK and subsequently managed to explode the ketchup all over her face amd Em's white top. (note two days later and the joke is still running) Luckily Em managed to sponge the stain off later.
At this stage of the day we were fairly exhausted yet another trip was in order. We headed to Audrey's friends house to say a quick hello.
