Sunday 25th Feb:
First thought of the day.... we can have our weekly chocolate bar, (which later turned into 4!!)
Had to be checked out by 9.30am, which we weren't too impressed about as we felt so hungover and only managed a few hours sleep - we were so glad that Barb packed the 'Resolve' in the first aid box! As with all hangovers we managed to locate a cafe and go for a full English breakfast, which was delicious.
As we had the whole day to kill, because our bus wasn't until 8pm we were allowed to leave our bags in the hostel then set off for the day. We went to the park, Victoria Square, where we tried to have a sleep but tad hard with main roads and hotels all around, and of course the killer ants. At first we thought they were just larger ants and annoying, but when Soph tried to flick them away started to get a stinging sensation on her finger, which Em also experienced later,we thought that these ants must bite, so 'ant tips' would be appreciated!
Discovered the free bus around adelaide which you can keep getting on and off, so thought we'd give it a go to kill some more time. We planned our route to the botanic gardens.. or 'balsamic gardens' as Em later referred to them as! These were really pretty, lots of nice trees and plants, it was a nice day so we set up here for a while feeling very tired. Enjoyed the peaceful and relaxing day and luckily this park didn't have any killer ants!
After this we got the bus back to the main square and the supermarket because it was chocolate day! Then went back to all the shops and restaurants near our hostel, really good location - right in the city centre. On the way back we saw posters for the theatre which was showing 'Menopause the Musical' and 'Puppetry of a Penis', as tempting as these sounded we thought we'd give them a miss! We then went on another of Em's hikes to find a restaurant, took us about 20 mins and Soph was about to settle for 'Hungry Jack's', when Em finally found the strip of cafes she was looking for! Didn't turn out too nice, as ordered nachos (which had sweetcorn on... Soph was not pleased) also the burger we ordered had every ingredient possible in - fried egg, bacon, tinned tomatoes, salad, weird mayo, peppers - just to mention a few.
After going back to our hostel to get our luggage we started the long walk to the bus station, nearly dying of heat on the way (again)! The bus journey to Melbourne wasn't too bad, better than the train. Although very loud film was on for half of it, an old disney which weren't really in mood for, and then when we did managed to doze off the man in front woke us up snoring! A quick mention here to Ed who got Em the travel pillow and without it would've not been able to get any sleep, it has literally been the saviour of the journies! (THANK YOU!)
