I think I managed to sleep off any off my jet lag I might have had with my +12 hour sleep and I woke up to another hot day in Bangkok. I decided to go for a walk down the Khao San Road, where The Beach was filmed. This is backpacker central and is lined with stalls on either side selling all kind of bits and bobs from really strange looking food to hair braids to old boots and jackets. I had to fend off endless tuk tuk drivers asking me where I was from and telling me how much they loved Chelsea as well a fortune teller who, when he told me that I had a huge temper, I had to say goodbye to. Then I wandered down past Democracy Monument to Wat Sutat, a lovely little temple just by the City Hall. There is an amazing contrast between the noise of the city out side and the calm within these temples. From here I managed to navigate my way to the Golden Mount, on the peak of which there is another temple, Wat Saket, from where you can see views of the whole city that stretch for absolutely miles. Finally I met up with my tour and tomorrow evening I leave Bangkok on an overnight train where the seats suddenly turn into bunkbeds...sounds interesting!!!
