Well I'm finally here, right in the middle of Bangkok! Despite the near miss of my first flight everything went without a hitch and I arrived in Thailand early this morning. The whole city is completely crazy at first glance, a whirr of bustle and confusion. The traffic doesn't really know where it's going and order to such things as street signs is lacking. The other thing that I found fairly bizarre was the waft of pad thai that arrived at breakfast time. As I soon discovered the Thai people don't have set meal times or set ideas of what you should eat when...so if it means curry for breakfast so be it. I spent this morning taking a stroll around the city and although it was a little longer than expected (some false turns were taken along the way) it was a great way just to soak up the atmosphere. Despite being a bit hectic, Bangkok has its truly beautiful parts. The love of their king is very prominent with his picture, adorned with gold, almost at every turning and the splendour of some of the buildings is quite amazing. I just can't wait till tomorrow when I can discover them properly.
