In the town where I live we've got this guy who is about three sandwiches short of a picnic. He drinks in the bar down the road and one night one of the new neighbors stopped in for a pint. Turns out he's a beekeeper and has two or three hives at the bottom of his garden. Somehow we all got to talking about pets and we're comparing them all. The beekeeper tells us that bees are actually quite smart for insects and to prove it told us this: Every morning at 5 he'd go out to the hives and flip the latches to let the bees out. They'd all fly down to the park and wouldn't return until around five sharp that evening when he replaced the latch. Our friend (the Looney) started laughing at this point and when we asked why he thought this was funny he said, "cos it's a crock of lies! Everybody knows the park gates don't open till 10!

Hi Everyone, As some of you may remember, today is our one year anniversary of leaving the wonderful UK and starting our smug ramble across the world. We have been to some amazing places, but a few highlights are; the temples of Angkor, the 24 hour train ride from Hong Kong to Beijing, New Years Eve overlooking Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong, and seeing the Sydney Opera House and Bridge all lit up at night. There are of course manay many more but we won't list them all. Thanks to everyone for following us along the journey. It has been great to know that you have all been with us on the way and hopefully enjoying the blogs as much as we have enjoyed the experiences! We do have a few blogs ready to go, and loads of new photos, but time is not on our side... we are currently in Broome (about 2600km North of Perth), and will be on the road again in the morning with the aim of getting up to Darwin in a couple of days. Blogs and photos to follow we promise... Watch this space: www.statravelblogs.com/smugramblings Thanks again for all the emails and comments on the blog. Keep them coming and keep us up to date on all the goings on - they really do help in the bouts of homesickness that come around. We hope everyone is ok, happy and healthy. Take care and keep in touch, Dave & Jem x www.statravelblogs.com/smugramblings [email protected] [email protected]
