Sorry once again for the lenghty update delay...i just find it tough to pull myself together to sit and write these things out.
Sooo, Lake Tekapo...think i'm about ready to check out. Been here almost 4 months now it seems to only be getting smaller, for various reasons. Still been having a good time though. Our hockey team, the Tekapo Bull Tahr, won the Erewhon cup, the oldest ice hockey trophy in New Zealand for the first time since 1965...that was about a month or so ago...goood times. Made the local papers and all that.
Work is the usual, little tired of it. The rink scheduled to close Sept 15 might stay open a little longer if the weather allows. Which would keep me working a little longer. Not i really need to or want to but its just a bit more cash.
Managing to get up snowboarding when i can, have almost been enough times now to have at least paid for my pass. The season is winding down so i gotta get up there a couple more times to make it worthwhile. Been a lot of fun though, have definitely improved. Still need to figure out what i'm going to do with my gear once i'm done here.
Last week Geoff, Bryan and I went up to Christchurch to send of Bryan who was heading to Asia and then home. We spent a tuesday night there which was pretty dead in terms of nightlife but we managed to turn it into a gongshow nonetheless. Now Geoff is going to be leaving. Tomorrow actually. Off to Queenstown for a week then Christchurch and off to Oz then Asia. Its gonna be just me left to close the Canadian Embassy at 9 Scott St. Its sad. Another reason its time to get out of here. Everyone else is slowly trickling away.
Have no idea what i'm going to do when work is done. Was going to do a couple weeks around the south island with a couple work mates but some drama unrelated to me has put a stop to those plans so far. Its funny though, my own personal drama in this town is just another reason to be moving on. I didnt come traveling to get dragged down in to some small town soap opera crap.Of course if it had played out another way i could be trying to stay longer, C'est la vie. It is all kind of amusing when you step back and view it all from a wider perspective. Not much else to do in a small town but drink and drama. Its been interesting.
Its all got me thinking of how much longer i'm going to spend in new zealand. i had thought of going back up north for the summer and working along the coast but i'm not sure. half of me wants to stick around and use up my visa and the other half wants to just move on, i've seen it, i get it. It is beautiful and it has been fun though, the time has flown by.
Anyways...looks like my time in Tekapo is coming to an end. Bittersweet i guess. Time to start a new chapter in the travel adventure, this one has been quite something.
