The world is getting smaller by the day. Just when you think you're somewhere where no one knows you, you find someone who knows someone you know...It's as though Destiny Himself enjoys the surprise as much as us.In a crowd of over 1000 people we sat right next to some other Canadians whom I'm sure thought they were somewhere where no one knew them. It's such fun meeting people like that. Bruce Taylor and Jerry Weekes are two new friends who live in Trail and Salmo (where 25 blogs ago we had issues at the US border) who know people we know and we know people they know who know more people we know and so on and so on... It's like a hug from the inside-out.
We have had another wonderful week with Dad and Mum (and Tim and Eli as harvest is finished). Our adventures included: a visit to the YWAM base at Richardson Springs, where Asher and Suzanne are connected, working in the Two English Ladies' Kitchen, visits with the cousins, another trip to Bethel Community church in Redding, wine tasting at the Abbey of New Clairvaux Vinyard, watching the sun set over Oroville Dam, exploring the fish hatchery, watching the movie Courageous together, and enjoying many a relaxing moment in the garden at Kathy and Wilbert's place where we are still house-sitting (and the dogs are still alive!).
It has been such a blessing to have Mum and Dad visit us in Chico as there are deeper roots here for us than anywhere else on this trip.It feels odd and somewhat anomalous visiting the place we used to call home, seeing our house inhabited by someone else, remembering all the things we used to do, and wondering what we would have been like had we never moved back to Fort St. John. We have no regrets, but I'm thankful I cannot see into the future. Perhaps I enjoy discovering the blessings as much as Destiny enjoys surprising me with them.
