We have moved from Tim's brother Jim's place back to his sister Kathy's place, where we are house and dog sitting for three weeks in a real house! Wilbert and Kathy have gone on their own adventure to Northern Saskatchewan to visit their daughter Heidi. Hence we are in charge of their lovely huge home and two mostly-lovely dogs. We are unquestionably enjoying the enormous space from room to room, upstairs to downstairs, and bathroom to bathroom! If you have a lot to clean - you must have a lot to be thankful for. We are wholeheartedly thankful for this opportunity to "spread out."
Our great inauguration of our new living quarters was a gathering of Holdstocks! My Mum and Dad have come to visit for two weeks so we had a wonderful first ever reunion with Bob and Pat Holdstock, my Dad's first cousin, and their daughter Claire and her family. What a hoot!We were 14 altogether and our only regret was that my sister Sharon and Claire's sister Joanne and their families couldn't be here too. (However, we did "include" them - they just couldn't defend themselves!)
My grandfather and Claire's grandfather were brothers - how it took us this long to find each other astounds me, but it is such a wonderful phenomenon to discover new friends who are old relatives. It filters out civility and opens up a candid depth and boon of rapport. However, Claire and I have discovered we have more in common than the fact that we both married wonderful men named Tim... we are both severely directionally challenged! On their way over here, Toby (age 4) discovered my handicap when he asked, "Why do we keep turning the wrong way?"My directions, although consistent, were entirely backward. It is no family secret that my left is right and my right is the other left.Fortunately, it seems both Tim's are quite used to this and they all arrived safe and sound.
We had a fantastic time together... making the first of many more gatherings to come.
