We were warned that it was going to be a choppy crossing of the Bay of Biscay and were not disappointed. It seemed like everything in the cabin rattled - earplugs were very handy for that and I couldn't hear if Ian was snoring either.
After breakfast first stop was to the gym to collect our pedometers and gym guide. The further you walk the more points can be gained to go towards treatments and hairdressing in the spa. So we set off round deck 7 - 650 paces - and as we write we have notched up 7200 paces.
The Naples talk was a bit of a publicity drive promoting the ship's tours, livened up by the captain interrupting it to tell us all about avoiding the norovirus - lovely - don't touch the handrails, leave the handrails alone!!!
Tonight it's meet the captain( sorry Sam, he's David not Eric!!). Regretfully (!) he will be unable to shake our hands in case they're dirty and he gets norovirus. He's not getting an invite to my birthday party!
Met up with the people who are joining us on a couple of trips in India we have planned. One couple, also retired teachers, share our love of geography and travel.
A lovely meal this evening, excellent choices, a reasonably priced wine package all served by cheerful efficient waiters most of whom are from Goa. My choice tonight(Jane) - marmite with meat and vegetables (consommé to you and me!) followed by rack of lamb with all types of veggies and plums poached in mulled wine - mmmm.
In case you haven't clocked it the next bit is Ian's contribution.
Sleeping the deep sleep of the pure and innocent at about 1am I was woken by the ship's tannoy - " stretcher party to the Harlequin bar" where apparently there was a dance. My Scout first aid badge has not been renewed recently so I did not leap into action. The point, dear reader, is never to do your Mick Jagger impression on the 2nd night of the cruise. By all means indulge yourself on the final night. It would appear P & O cruise X201now has only 1699 passengers on board. Well I tell a lie there are still 1700 on board but only 1699 are still breathing! Now that's not good value for money is it? So I've changed my mind about the dancing classes - can anyone tell me how stressful bridge or card making is?
